Dr. Ramana is a Professor at Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, TX-USA. The chief objectives of his investigations are to examine the involvement of cellular metabolism and oxidative stress signals in inflammation and to delineate the role of aldo-keto reductases in mediating the inflammatory pathways. He uses various genetic, biochemical and cell biological approaches to analyze inflammatory responses regulated by cellular lipid metabolites leading to inflammatory complications such as diabetic cardiovascular complications, sepsis, cardiomyopathy and uveitis. He has published more than 100 peer reviewed articles.
